This is another page that will take some time to build. I aim to share what general foods, cleaning products, and personal care products are beneficial or harmful to your body. Part of using herbs for health is cleaning up your body so you can use the herbs more successfully.
Synthetic chemicals have to be filtered through your body, making your body less able to regenerate healthy, clean cells, which causes many of the diseases we suffer from today. It takes time to change everything; don’t get too discouraged. It will happen with effort and time.
I will also add recipes for what I use or make myself.
Organic everything is best. When anything is conventionally grown, whether plant or animal, with chemicals, it stays in cell structures. It is not possible to "flush" all of the synthetic chemicals. The FDA does not require these chemicals to be listed in ingredients even though they are in the product. It is also forced to grow at a faster rate, causing it to be less nutrient-dense. So you end up with a less nutritional, synthetic chemical-filled product. I've noticed that when you eat all organic food, you eat less.
Avoid anything low-fat or fat-free. They are full of synthetic chemicals instead of food.
Avoid all refined and seed oils. All refined or seed oils contain synthetic chemicals that remain in the product, and the FDA does not require them to be listed in ingredients. Organic cold-pressed is best. Use Avocado oil for low—and high-temperature cooking. Extra virgin olive oil is best for temperatures up to 350 degrees; higher, it becomes carcinogenic. Regular olive oil has been refined with chemicals, which I avoid. Ghee is an excellent low—and high-temperature cooking oil. Grass-fed beef ghee and butter are best. Butter becomes carcinogenic over 350 degrees. Clean lard is also another great option to cook with.
Sugar is a difficult one—at least, that’s what I’ve found. White sugar is packed with chemicals as it goes through the refining process, synthetic chemicals that remain in sugar, an average of 12 additional chemicals. The FDA does not require these to be listed in ingredents. Stevia, the plant or extract, not the powdered stevia that's been through a refining process, is a better choice. Raw sugar is another better option, but it has still been through a refining process. I prefer organic raw local honey, plus you get actual nutrients from it. Jaggery is another one; it is true raw sugar that is unprocessed. It is a light brown and carmel colored block that you break apart for use.
Salt is very important for our body to function normally; we require it. 99% of the salt used, iodized salt, kosher salt or not, is saturated in synthetic chemicals and wholly stripped of natural minerals. It goes through a chemical washing and bleaching. Anti-caking chemicals containing aluminum or silicon and synthetic iodide or iodine are added. Making it 95-97% NaCI or sodium chloride and 3-5% synthetic chemicals. Authentic, pure salts like Himalayan, from Pakaistans Salt Range mountains, and Celtic salt from coastal regions of France, Brittany, and parts of Portugal are 80-84% NaCI or sodium chloride and 16-20% natural minerals. Natural salts include 3 types of magnesium, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulphate, and magnesium bromide. They are essential to removing excess sodium in our bodies, aiding in blood pressure regulation and hydration. Refined salt is acidic to the body; pure salts are alkalizing to the body.
Grains are good for you, the right grains! Any white-colored grain foods have gone through a refining process. The chemicals used in refining are not required by the FDA to be listed in ingredients. Making them less nutrient-dense, saturated in synthetic chemicals, and usually full of Gluten. Our bodies were not created to process mass amounts of Gluten. You want to use ancient grains like Einkorn, Durham, Barley, Quinoa, Rye, and Amaranth are a few options. If you are an oatmeal fan, sprouted oats are much healthier than rolled oats. They are more nutrient-dense, easier to digest, and contain less phytic acid, which inhibits mineral absorption. Sourdough is another excellent option. The fermentation process is like predigesting some of the gluten in the wheat. Check labels; the only ingredients should be flour, starter, water, and salt.
Cleaning products are notorious for saturating our bodies in synthetic chemicals. Our skin will absorb anything put on it, and if you can smell it, it will get into your body. Causing everything from fatigue and inflammation to cancer. Laundry soaps and dryer sheets are horrible for this. One of the hardest things I’ve found was not having that “clean” smell, which is not actually a clean smell. It’s synthetic chemicals, and we've been conditioned to think something was clean by these smells. Use laundry detergents by Clean People or Meyers; I prefer making my own. Instead of dryer sheets, use wool dryer balls with essential oils. For an all-purpose floor and countertop cleaner, use white Vinegar. You can infuse it with orange or lemon peels or add essential oils. The same goes for personal care products. Check the ingredients; you should be able to recognize the ingredients.
Exercise, ugh, but it is so important! We were not created to be sedentary; we need movement. Small steps can be very beneficial to your body. It can be as simple as wearing ankle and wrist weights while doing daily chores. A great way to help out your lymphatic system is rebounding. All you do is spend 20-30 minutes a day bouncing on a small trampoline. It does wonders for your lymphatic system.
