Most cases of mastitis will clear up on its own in a few days. It is important to completely empty both breasts at every feeding, and keep nipples clean. It will help clear up any mastitis and help prevent cases of mastitis. Staying hydrated and eating healthy so your body can fight infection is key. If high fever, puss or blood in breast milk, red, hot breasts, red streaks on the breast, nipples showing signs of infection, or flu-like symptoms accompany mastitis, you should see a healthcare professional.
Aloe-
Apply freshly harvested gel to inflamed breasts. Aloe is an antibacterial and pain reliever. Before nursing, use a wet cloth to remove any aloe or residue of.
Calendula-
Use by making an infused oil and applying it to breasts after every feeding. Calendula is a gentle antibiotic, pain and inflammation reliever. Before nursing, clean nipples.
Garlic-
Raw garlic is an immune stimulant and broad-spectrum antibiotic. Garlic loses much of its medicinal value once peeled and dried. Fresh, raw garlic works much better than garlic capsules. You will need to eat two cloves twice daily. Eating raw garlic may cause a gassy baby by upsetting their gastrointestinal system; it may not be the right choice for your little one, so be cautious.

Tea tree oil-
It is very IMPORTANT to clean any tea tree oil off the breast before nursing. This is one that many herbalists say do not use while nursing due to the risk of infant ingesting; tea tree oil can be toxic if ingested. You MUST use caution to avoid putting on nipples. Dilute tee tree oil in a choice of carrier oil like olive or almond, and apply to breasts, avoiding the entire nipple area. Tea tree oil kills E.coli and staph infections.

Cabbage leaves! Yes, cabbage leaves are fantastic for relieving pain during breast engorgement and in mild cases of mastitis. Refrigerated cabbage works best. Simply take a leaf, cut out the center vein, gently bruise it, and place it in your bra, covering the entire breast and leaving the nipple uncovered for about 20 minutes. Repeat with a new leaf every 4-6 hours; more often, it can cause your milk to dry up.
The theory behind this long-time treatment is that the amino acids open blood flow, increasing blood flow, relieving inflammation, and allowing milk supply to flow more freely. Avoid using this remedy if you have allergies to sulfa, which naturally occurs in cabbage and kale. Green or purple cabbage can be used, but purple cabbage will likely leave stains.
