Like humans, animals have used herbs since God created us. There are some differences for pets so always double-check your work. NO essential oils for dogs or cats internally, I along with many Veterinarians and Herbalists recommend not even diffusing essential oils with pets in the home. They process differently through the animal's liver and kidneys, if you can smell it it is getting into your bloodstream. Animals just like humans need to be cautious with herbs especially when using synthetic medication, pregnant or nursing.
Dogs will usually eat the powdered herbs and tinctures easily when added to food. My dogs know where their herbs are and get excited when I grab them like they are treats on their food. Cats are tricky. You want to mix it with super fishy-smelling food or get tincture way back in the throat. They will not be happy with tincture, and will likely drool and foam at the mouth.
